What you were talking about is not the Census records, it is Ancestry.com's extracts from the records.

I don't personally bother with looking at them any more unless I see from the index that they have transcribed a name incorrectly. They are so full of the types of errors I mentioned, which cannot be given an 'alternate' in the current setup, they only increase my blood pressure.

Your report of this new Ancestry.com weirdness regarding 'house number' is just about another of the many thousands of Ancestry.com glitches. Wish they would fix old ones instead of finding new ways to disconcert customers.

I reviewed about 25 new and old "RECORDS" of my tree in the course of a week before I brought this to light.

ALL 25 had this NEW "Ancestry.com's transcription" of the image in its record.

Anne, if you have an internal code to identify records that go together in one household, is there hope that we can eventually have the 1850 households straightened out one day soon, for example...

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1850usfedcenan...

...where total strangers, who are not even on the page, are listed with my James Harrison family? I know how & why this happened and only want to know if these internal codes could be used to fixt it?

Thanks.
Jo

I agree whole-heartedly damn it! fix the old stuff, this house number stuff is mind-numbing to me, I have more important things to worry abt.
