Triming the tree

Please, for the love of all that is good, make it easier to delete severeal people from a tree at once. Maybe in the "List of people" view put little checkboxes beside names for easy deleting. I've spent hours and hours triming my tree because of one stupid merge. I know, I know, don't merge unless you research but I did and I know many others who have made the same mistake and would love an easier way to trim the tree!

Making it easier would not teach the lesson that one shouldn't merge in the first place.
Actions *do* have consequences and that fact needs to be re-enforced.

One problem I see with that idea is you wouldn't be able to see who's attached to the people before you delete them and you could end up with a lot of disconnected people in your tree.

Even triming the tree using FTM software is not easy once you have people you would like to delete. I found that out the hard way and am still dealing with the consequences. Years ago a lady e mailed me her FTM gedcom which I merged into my own. Now, I have a large number of people, many of whom I know nothing about. I get e mails from people excited to find someone who might know something about their family, only to find that what I have in my file is all there is and the lady who e mailed me the file years ago cannot be located now. Frequently I begin deleting some names but since they are actually attached to my own people at some level, it is difficult deciding where to make the cuts. I learned my lesson then. I still get gedcoms from people but I maintain the gedcom as a separate FTM file and selectively pull from that when I know where they fit. My advice is just to be careful when deleting. Check the people who are attached to the names you are deleting. You have learned a valuable lesson as I did though and from now own you will be a better researcher.
