1911 Census

Does anyone know if Ancestry.co.uk will add this shortly - it is available elsewhere online but I dont want to pay funds for credits, as it seems very expenses £6.95 for 60 credits but you need 30 credits to look at the census or just 10 to look at the script to determine if its the right record to start with.

Or is there somewhere else that is cheaper on-line that I could use.

I need to locate my grandfather who will be on it, so that I can find out by great grand-fathers name and if there were other siblings.

Thanks

I would send an email to ancestry.com directly. They should be able to tell you what's in the works.

Believe it or not, we're not supposed to discuss "commercial" sites (bad for business, I guess) but googling "1911 Census" will bring up several sites....

I asked when 1911 appeared and Ancestry said 2012.
The 1911census site have a special licence
You have 4 grandparents so take out one of the low price packages 6.95 gbp and try to find all.

I've only retrieved the 1911 census for direct family, well perhaps a couple of other relations I was interested in too - but it was quite something to see the handwriting of a couple of great grandfathers - yes, expensive, but kind of sweet to do it.

If you live near Birmingham (Birmingham Archive), Exeter (Devon Record Office), Manchester (Manchester Archive), London (National Archive at Kew), Norwich (Norfolk Record Office), Nottingham (Nottinghamshire Archive) or Newcastle upon Tyne (Tyne & Wear Archive) in England, or Aberystwyth (National Library) in Wales, then access to the on-line 1911 census is available (or soon will be) FREE!
