The entries in this index have a "Year" entry.

What type of year is it? For the entries I skimmed, the "Year" didn't 'seem' to be the census year. I read the description of the index but did not see any indication of what the "year" field is for.

Anyone know?

I'm trying to determine folks of Butts surname in early North Carolina. I'm not going to rely on this index exclusively nor as if it were gospel... just as a starting point for names.
