i am told john wesley hardin was my grandfather's grandfather. I don't know of this to be true and would like any help. My grandma's name was brown and grandpa's hambrick. Does anyone have any info that could make this true

There seems to be a lot of people who are related to John Wesley Hardin but do not have the link. Here is what I have and it is by no means complete. I have it because I am working on a book "In the Shadow of John Wesley Hardin" and concentrates on lesser known gunfighters to include John's little brother Jeff who was killed in a gunfight in 1901.

JOHN WESLEY Hardin was born May 26, 1853 in Bonham, Fannin Co., TX, and died August 19, 1895 in El Paso, TX. He married JANE BOWEN February 29, 1872 in Riddlesville, Gonzales Co., TX, daughter of NEAL BOWEN and MARY WESTON. She was born 1856 in Karens Co., TX, and died 1892 in Asher Cemetery, Gonzales Co., TX.

John was married a second time to Callie Lews, b. C1879 on 8 Jan, 1893, in Junction, TX but it lasted only a few days or weeks.

Children:
MARY ELIZABETH Hardin, b. May 1874; d. April 18, 1938, Karens Co., TX.
JOHN WESLEY JR. HARDIN, b. August 03, 1875, FL; d. October 24, 1934, Nixon, Gonzales Co., TX.
CALLIE Hardin, b. July 15, 1877.

MARY ELIZABETH Hardin married CHARLES R. BILLINGS December 16, 1894 in Dewitt Co., TX, son of WILLIAM BILLINGS and MARTHA C.. He was born February 06, 1873 in TX.
He gave June 1875 as Date of birth on 1900 census in Gonzales Co., TX.

Children are:
EDITH BILLINGS, b. October 1899.
OTIS BILLINGS, b. August 1898.
VICTOR BILLINGS, b. April 1897.

JOHN WESLEY JR. HARDIN was born August 03, 1875 in FL, and died October 24, 1934 in Nixon, Gonzales Co., TX. He married LILLIE A. HOUSE February 17, 1898 in Dewitt Co., TX, daughter of JOHN HOUSE and GUSTINA. She was born January 06, 1882 in Dewitt Co., TX.

Per 1920 census he is listed with family and employed as Mail Carrier, Star Route, out of Nixon, Gonzales Co., TX.
1910, Karens Co., TX, listed as John Harden, wife L. A., 2 children.

Children are:
BELVA Hardin, b. Abt. 1903.
TOMMIE J. HARDIN.
JOHN WESLEY III Hardin, b. October 26, 1898, TX; m. ORA A.; b. Abt. 1909, KS.

Census: 1930, Karens Co., TX, listed as Wesley J. Hardin, age 30, wife Ora. He is now the mail carrier for Star Route.

I was looking up some info on him because I hadd always heard I was related. The only thing I found to add to your great family tree info is that John and wife Jane Bowen had, as I found, 4 children: Mary Elizabeth, John Wesley Hardin III, Callie Hardin, and Jane Martina Hardin (7.15.1877 in Alabame and died 10.12.1931 in Texas) Her spouse was John Ross Lyons. The info I found said Callie Hardin's spouse was Jon Lyons

I, too, have been told I'm related. My grandmother's maiden name is Hardin. She was born in Llano, Texas in 1924. Anyone have any info about similar relatives in the area?
